Move-in Day: What you need to know

Move-in Day: What you need to know

For information specific to each building, including directions, unloading zone maps, check-in locations, cart checkout and more, visit the MOVE IN page of the housing website.

ARRIVAL AUGUST 11-13

Students planning to arrive August 11-13 must choose an arrival time in The Dawg House by August 8. Arrival times help us minimize traffic, lines and crowds—so plan to check in at your arrival time. Early arrivals will be asked to wait outside the building until their scheduled time.

UNLOADING ZONES*

Students with arrival times will receive a parking pass on August 9. Place the unloading zone pass on the dashboard of the car and park in the unloading zone for up to one hour. Students should proceed to the check-in area to get their keys and cart (if needed). After one hour, move vehicles to long-term parking so others can unload.

Residents are encouraged to bring only one vehicle to the unloading zone at a time. Any vehicles that do not have items to unload should proceed directly to long-term parking. Visit the MOVE IN page of the housing website for unloading zone and long-term parking maps.

*Because of limited parking, Black-Diallo-Miller Hall residents must first proceed to a staging area before being released to the unloading zone.

ARRIVAL AUGUST 14-15

Checkin is available around the clock Monday and Tuesday. Parking near building entrances will be limited, so plan to bring your own cart or dolly or check one out when you pick up your key.

RESIDENCE HALL ACCESS

UGACard: Residents need a UGACard to access their residence hall. Once your card has been active for 24 hours, choose a personal identification number (PIN); the card and pin will give you access to your building.

Keys: You’ll get your key at check in. Students must be present to pick up keys—parents and supporters will not be issued a key on the student’s behalf. Take your key with you when you leave and lock your door!

Visitors: When appointment times end for the day, the secure access doors will be locked—you’ll need your UGACard and PIN to enter. These doors are locked 24/7 and you’ll need to escort guests at all times.

OTHER INFORMATION

Trash and recycling: Please take all trash and recycling to outside dumpsters so it does not collect in the hallways. Our sustainability volunteers will be collecting plastic film, cardboard and Styrofoam.

Floor meetings: Floor meetings are a chance for students to meet and get to know each other and their RA. Floor meetings in first-year buildings are August 15 at 4:30 p.m. on students’ individual floors.
