Orientation Housing 

For students, housing during First-Year Orientation is in  Black-Diallo-Miller Hall  (315 Baxter St., Athens, GA 30609). One night is included with your orientation fee. 

Family and supporter accommodations: Families are encouraged to stay at the Georgia Center UGA Hotel and Conference Center. Rooms are offered at a discounted rate; use discount code ORIE.

Checking in and out 

Upon arriving on campus, check in at Black-Diallo-Miller Hall to drop off your belongings before checking in at the Tate Student Center for your orientation session. 

  • Check in 9-11:45 a.m. on day 1 
  • Check out by 2 p.m. on day 2 

Parking 

Use the W07 lot directly off Baxter Street next to Black-Diallo-Miller Hall for drop-offs and unloading. Parking in this lot is limited to 10 minutes. Long-term day parking is available in the Tate Parking Deck. Overnight parking is available in the Russell Hall lot (W10) and the West Campus Deck (W08).

Roommates

While we are unable to process roommate requests ahead of time, we will do our best to accommodate your preferences during the check-in process. If you wish to share a room with someone you already know, plan to arrive for check in together.

Only you and your assigned roommate are permitted to stay overnight in your room. If you do not have a roommate, you may not bring overnight guests.


Access

Upon check-in you will receive a key to your room and a guest access card. Carry your card with you at all times—you will need it and the PIN number provided to access the building. Only students are permitted behind the secure access point.


What to bring

Linens—including pillows and blankets—are not included. Please bring your own.

  • Pillow and pillowcase
  • Twin XL sheets, blanket, comforter or sleeping bag
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • Shower shoes or flip-flops
  • Personal medications (if applicable)
  • Photo identification for check in (driver’s license, state ID or passport)

Quiet hours

10 p.m. – 8 a.m.

Orientation leaders and other staff members live in the building. Please be respectful of their living space by observing quiet hours. 


Early arrival requests

Students may request an early arrival (for the night before your orientation session) up to 24 hours before your session. Limited space is available, and requests are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Complete the Early Arrival Form
  • Check-in is 4-6 p.m. on the day before your orientation session
  • An early arrival fee of $32 will be posted to your student account

First-year informational webinars on Zoom

These webinars are intended for incoming first-year students and their supporters for fall 2024. They will include a 20-minute presentation by a housing staff member and 40 minutes for participant questions.
