WHAT RESIDENTS CAN DO
VISITATION: Visitation is permitted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents must escort their guests at all times while the guests are in the building.
ACCESS: Residents should only allow other residents into the building through the secure access doors. Residents are responsible for the people they allow in, whether or not they know them.
ROOMMATE RIGHTS: Roommate’s rights have priority over guest’s rights. Specific guest regulations are to be determined and mutually agreed upon by the roommates within each room, suite or unit. These regulations may further restrict the current visitation policy. If consensus cannot be met independently, staff will assist in creating a written agreement with the roommates.
ROOM DOORS: Keep room doors locked when you are not there to prevent unauthorized entry and theft.
PROPPING DOORS: Propping exterior or secure access doors is a violation of the housing Community Guide and puts residents and their belongings at risk. While we encourage residents to prop their room doors when they are in their room, exterior doors should never be propped open.
RENTERS INSURANCE: University Housing recommends students purchase renters insurance to for coverage of personal belongings. Renters insurance can be added to an existing homeowners policy or purchased independently. GradGuard is University Housing’s preferred vendor offering student-focused personal property and personal liability coverage. GradGuard coverage protects physical items students bring to college (up to the policy limits) from things like theft, fire, smoke, vandalism, wind, sprinkler system discharges and more.
