Housing registration
Housing registration takes place in The Dawg House, our online student housing portal. There is a $35 non-refundable fee for registration.
- Students must be admitted to the university to register for housing
- Registration is not complete until the fee is paid
- Registration does not commit you to the University of Georgia
- Registration only guarantees you a space if you are a first-year student
- For most students, registration date and time determines the order in which they choose their space
First-Year Housing Webinars
Join housing staff and current UGA students as we walk through the housing process, including roommates, timelines and resources. We’ll also be answering your questions live.

Checking in and out
Upon arriving on campus, check in at Black-Diallo-Miller Hall to drop off your belongings before heading to the Tate Student Center for the welcome at 12 p.m.
Housing check in: 9-11:30 a.m. on Orientation Day One (in the Black-Diallo-Miller lobby)
Housing checkout: 12 p.m. on Orientation Day Two (at the Black-Diallo-Miller desk)
Housing may accommodate a late checkout of 2 p.m. for students who may need additional time due to advising appointments. Students who need this extra time should contact housing@uga.edu.
Parking
Use the W07 lot directly off Baxter Street and next to Black-Diallo-Miller Hall for drop-offs and unloading only. Parking in this lot is limited to 10 minutes.
Use the Hull Street Deck (W05) for all long-term day and overnight parking.
Early arrival requests
One night of housing in Black-Diallo-Miller is included in your orientation fee but, due to travel or other compelling needs, students may request an early arrival to Black-Diallo-Miller for the night before their scheduled orientation session. Make this request when you register for your orientation session or by emailing housing@uga.edu. Limited space is available, and requests are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
If space is available, you will receive an email with additional information that will include a payment link. An extra night’s stay is a nonrefundable fee of $33, and payment for an early arrival is due at least 48 hours prior to arrival. After payment completion, you will be permitted to check into Black-Diallo-Miller beginning at 4 p.m. the day before your Orientation Day One.
Roommates
University Housing staff will make room assignments as participants check in on Orientation Day One. Submit roommate requests to housing@uga.edu at least 48 hours in advance of checking in, or plan to arrive for check in together. Otherwise, you will be assigned a random roommate during your stay.
Only you and your assigned roommate are permitted to stay overnight in your room. If you do not have a roommate, you may not bring overnight guests to occupy that vacancy.
Building access
Upon checking in, you will receive a key to your room and a building access card. You must carry your access card with you at all times, as you will need it and the PIN number provided to access the building. Only students with access cards are permitted behind the secure access point.
