Community Council
Every residence hall and community at UGA has a group of student leaders who represent and advocate for their fellow residents. These students plan events and activities based on what their community needs and wants, helping to create a welcoming and engaging environment. Events can range from social gatherings to professional development workshops and advocacy initiatives. Being part of Community Council is a great way to build leadership skills and get involved on campus.
Community Councils operate on a budget derived from the programming fee charged in conjunction with the housing fee, which pays for events, purchases and programs of their choice. These student boards also provide input on housing policies and fees. Programming fees are $20 per semester in the residence halls and $1 per month in University Village and the Health Sciences Campus.
Every year, Community Councils also compete with each other to win the Council Cup. There are several incentives to getting points, such as hosting events, collaborating with other councils, writing Of-The-Months (OTMs) and more. Students and advisors are recognized for their achievements at the End-of-Year Banquet hosted by RHA and NRHH in April.
If you are interested in joining your hall/residence community’s Community Council, you can email us at rha@uga.edu with your name, residence hall, and expressed interest. We will get you connected to your council’s advisor!
