Adjustable beds
Headboards and footboards are 64” tall by 38” wide with
multiple levels of adjustment for height. When raised to
the highest position, there is 60″ of vertical clearance
underneath.
Harold A. Black (BBA ’66) was UGA’s first African American
male freshman and the first African American graduate of the
Terry College of Business. He retired as professor emeritus of
the University of Tennessee – Knoxville after 24 years of
service as the James F. Smith, Jr. Professor of Finance. Black,
a native of Atlanta, earned his master’s and doctoral degrees
from The Ohio State University. Over the course of his
distinguished career in higher education, government and
business he has received numerous awards and honors for his
teaching and research.
Mary Blackwell Diallo (AB ’66, MA ’73) was the first African
American student from Athens to enroll at UGA. She earned both
her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in French literature from
UGA and her doctorate from Emory University. She taught at
Morehouse College and at Florida A&M University and retired in
2021 after a long and productive career. She was a contract
interpreter for the U.S. Department of State and participated
in the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program in Benin and France.
Kerry Rushin Miller (BS ’66) was the first African American to
earn a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from UGA and shortly
thereafter began an extensive professional career in the
telecommunications industry. She retired from BellSouth after 29
years of distinguished service, primarily based in Charlotte,
North Carolina. After retiring, Kerry served Charlotte Club
through the Urban League and in 2005 joined the Charlotte Club of
the National Association of Negro Business and Professional
Women’s Clubs, where she developed an award-winning education
program designed to help at-risk elementary and middle school
students raise their self-esteem, strive for excellence, and
achieve their personal best.

ONEbox emergency distribution kits contain Naloxone nasal
sprays and instructions to use in case of opioid and other

USPS. When packages arrive, they will receive an email
and must display their UGACard to retrieve the package.

Charlayne Hunter-Gault holds a place in Georgia civil rights
history as one of the first two African American students admitted
to the University of Georgia in 1961. Hunter-Gault lived in Myers Hall
during her tenure at UGA and, upon her graduation, began a successful
career as an award-winning journalist with PBS, The New York Times
and CNN. Hunter-Gault is respected for her work on television and in
print and continues to contribute to UGA through the “Giving Voice to
the Voiceless” endowment, which provides grants to students to
promote social justice and global understanding.

Residents use these small spaces for privacy when on the
phone, FaceTime, Zoom and taking proctored online tests.

Russell Academic Center (RAC)
The RAC has classroom and study space where the Office of
Student Success hosts tutoring sessions.
Secure access door
Residents use their UGACard and a PIN to access the
building. They are responsible for guests and must
escort them throughout the building—security is
everyone's responsibility!
