Beginning in May 2019, Brumby Hall will be closed for renovation, with a re-opening date in fall 2020. Renovations are based on the feedback of current UGA students, who weighed in on everything from community bathrooms to study spaces. Other changes are based on the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the Russell Hall renovation, such as freestanding furniture in rooms and more programmatic spaces. In the first renovation since its construction, Brumby will be outfitted with updated rooms, increased accessibility, and in-room temperature control. The spirit of Brumby will be kept alive through features that have made it a perennially popular hall: the sense of community fostered in high-rise living and the iconic rotunda, which provides a gathering space for students. But this isn’t only a facelift: renovations include a complete update of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as exterior maintenance and repair. Come June 2020, Brumby will be ready to welcome a new generation of Bulldogs to their home under the Arch. Constructed in 1966, Brumby Hall houses first-year students in double-occupancy rooms with community bathrooms.
