Built in 1923, Payne Hall remains a favorite residence hall for students, particularly those who need housing year-round. Payne, along with adjacent Reed Hall, is open for students not only during the summer, but also during university breaks, including fall, Thanksgiving, winter, spring and summer. Payne Hall recently underwent renovations to provide a new heating and air system, in-room temperature control, electrical upgrades and fresh-air ventilation. Each room contains a desk and desk chair, a three-drawer dresser, and a 17-position adjustable bed for each resident. Students enjoy not only Payne's close proximity to Sanford Stadium, the Tate Student Center, the Psychology-Journalism Complex and the Miller Learning Center, but also the large grassy quad in front of Reed Hall, which is ideal for playing frisbee or relaxing and studying in the fresh air.
The visitation option for Payne Hall is “2”, which allows for visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
