2012-2013 Break and Semester Closing Dates
University Housing

 

Check-In: All Communities
The Hunker Down with Housing move-in celebration begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 for Greek recruitment. Residents may move into their fall spaces on Tuesday for an additional fee of $20. Additional fees are billed directly to each resident's Student Account.

Hunker Down with Housing continues at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 - the first date of general check in. Residents may move into their fall spaces on Wednesday with no additional fees.

Brumby, Creswell, Russell, Hill and Myers Communities, Morris Hall and Building 1516
Students residing in these communities should plan accordingly as stated in the below chart. More detailed information will be sent to each resident's UGA email account prior to each closing.

FALL BREAK

  • The residence halls will not close for Fall Break 2012.

THANKSGIVING BREAK

  • Reed Hall, Payne Hall and East Campus Village remain open during the break.
  • All other residence halls will close at noon on Sunday, November 18, 2012, and reopen at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012.

WINTER BREAK

  • Reed Hall, Payne Hall and East Campus Village remain open during the break. 
  • All other residence halls will close at noon on Friday, December 14, 2012, and reopen at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. 

SPRING BREAK

  • Reed Hall, Payne Hall and East Campus Village remain open during the break.
  • All other residence halls will close at noon on Saturday March 9, 2013 and reopen at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

YEAR END

  • Traditional Halls & ECV's McWhorter Hall close at noon on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

 

East Campus Village
East Campus Village offers continuous housing to students and is open during all academic break periods. Each student will receive an email at his/her UGA email account prior to each break period with more detailed information.

YEAR END

  • Halls close for residents of McWhorter Hall at Noon on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
  • Rooker, Busbee and Vandiver Halls remain open through the summer for all non-graduating residents. These halls will close at noon on Saturday, August 3, 2013—the last day of the ECV 11.5 month contract.
     

Summer Housing

  • Summer 2013 housing will be determined by the end of December 2012.
  • No new assignments will be made for any summer session in ECV.
  • McWhorter will be closed for summer 2013.

  • All other residence halls will close at noon on Saturday March 8, 2013 and reopen at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2013.

YEAR END

  • Traditional Halls & ECV's Vandiver Hall close at noon on Saturday, May 10, 2013.
