University Housing is pleased to join the UGA Residence Hall Association in announcing the 2012 Room-of-the-Year and Best Video Tour contests for all current residents of University Housing! Prizes will be awarded in the categories of:
- Best Male Room
- Best Female Room
- Best Video Tour
Room-of-the-Year finalists will be selected by a panel of University Housing employees and members of the Residence Hall Association Executive Board based on cleanliness, use of color, creativity and space utilization.
Best Video Tour finalists will be selected by a panel of University Housing employees and members of the Residence Hall Studios Executive Board based on creativity, script, production quality and coherence.
Grand Prize winners will be decided by online voting by current residents of University Housing, with a limit of one vote per resident.
Grand Prizes in each category will be first pick of all available living spaces in the highly competitive 2013-2014 Room Sign-Up campaign that begins in December.
CONTEST DATES
- October 1: Photo entries for Room-of-the-Year due
- October 15: Selection of top five in Best Male Room and Best Female Room categories
- October 15: Video entries for Best Video Tour due
- October 29: Selection of top five videos
- November 2-12: Online resident voting in all categories. Counting stops at 2 p.m. on November 12.
- November 13: Announcement of winners in all categories.
ENTER THE CONTEST
All current residents of University Housing residence halls are invited to participate in the contest. Both residents of double occupancy rooms must agree to enter the contest, though residents in single rooms or single bedrooms within suites, supersuites or apartments may enter individually.
Only digital images of contest participant rooms will be accepted. NO MORE THAN FIVE (5) DIGITAL PHOTOS OR ONE (1) VIDEO should be submitted with the online registration form with links provided to an Internet photo or video-sharing site. Some common content-sharing sites include Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, YouTube or Pinterest. Make sure you check your privacy settings and give us permission to view your photos and videos. Your entry is not valid without these permissions!
Deadline for photo submission is 5 p.m. on October 1, 2012. Deadline for video submission is 5 p.m. on October 15, 2012. Video entries also may be submitted on DVD or CD-ROM in person to the Housing Assignments Office located in Russell Hall, accompanied by a completed registration form.

Initial judging of the top five Best Male and Best Female rooms will be chosen from the entries by a panel of University Housing employees and members of the Residence Hall Association Executive Board.
Initial judging of the top five Video Tours will be chosen from the entries by a panel of University Housing employees and members of the Residence Hall Studios Executive Board.
Final selection of winners in all categories will be decided by online voting in the form of “liking” by current residents of University Housing on the department’s social media pages.
