Submit a Work Order
To report a maintenance request (work order) for a routine maintenance issue, residents should submit the request online.
Promptly submitting a work order for any breakage, damage, or need for repair to the apartment or appliances. Charges to the resident will only be assessed for repairs that result from carelessness, negligence, or oversight on the resident’s part (damaged furniture beyond the normal wear and tear; grease and food buildup on stove switches and wiring; and damaged windows, screens, floors, etc.)
If a problem is not satisfactorily addressed, please submit a second work order and indicate it as such in the work order system or contact the Health Sciences Campus Housing Office.
Emergency Work Request
Occasionally, a resident will have an emergency maintenance problem in which a maintenance repair or immediate attention is essential in order to maintain the health and safety of the resident or protect the building and its property. Listed below are examples of situations (not exhaustive) that are considered emergencies:
- No water (hot or cold)
- Overflowing plumbing fixtures
- No electric power for an entire apartment
- Broken water pipe so that there is water flowing
- Major roof leak
- Entry door that will not open or lock
- Broken glass in public areas that jeopardizes security or personal safety
- Air conditioner not working when outdoor temperature is above 90°F
- Heater not working when outdoor temperature is below 55°F
Emergency repair requests should be called into 706-542-3999 during regular office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. When emergency requests arise after office hours, on weekends or on holidays, residents should call 706-269-2699 to reach the housing staff member on duty.
Pest Control
Once every three months, professional exterminators will enter and treat every apartment. Exceptions are made only for medical purposes, and the resident must obtain a statement from a physician to support this. If a resident is experiencing pest problems between these visits, the resident may complete an online work request or contact the Health Sciences Campus Housing Office. Exterminators are scheduled to visit the campus once a week and will complete pest control work requests during those weekly visits. Once the treatment is completed, the exterminators have been instructed to leave a note to let the residents know that the work has been done.
