Register for Housing
University Housing offers the convenience of an online application process to prospective student residents.
NOTE: Visiting scholars apply to stay at the Health Sciences Campus through a different process. The information on this page applies only to students.
Prospective student residents who do not require special assistance may proceed to the online application. Apartments are available with a roommate option (two single students signing contracts to share the apartment) or as a single contract (one student who wishes to contract the whole apartment alone or to reside with eligible family members (spouse/domestic partner and/or minor dependents).
Residential Management System (RMS)
The Residential Management System (RMS) website is used by applicants to register for housing and current residents to update their contact information profile and for the returning resident apartment sign-up process in the spring semester of each year. You will need to use the RMS User ID, which is a five-digit number that residents are given upon application for residence at the Health Science Campus. If you do not have your RMS User ID and password, or if the information that you have does not seem to work, send an email with a request to the Housing Assignments Office.
Eligibility
Individuals eligible to sign contracts with Health Sciences Campus are any graduate student enrolled in the Georgia Health Science University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership. Eligible students may also have a spouse/domestic partner or minor dependents living with them. Eligible students may request a roommate from a program outside those that are eligible. The roommate must be an enrolled UGA graduate or professional student, complete a housing application, and sign a contract with University Housing. Further information regarding occupancy qualifications is available in the community guide.
Application Process
For eligible students, the application process for an upcoming contract year (August-July) can be completed online in just a couple of minutes. Before you go through this process, you may want to review the rates for the coming year. You will need to access the Residential Management System (RMS) site to submit an application. When an application is received, it is processed or “accepted” and the applicant is placed on a waiting list until the assignment process. Applicants will receive an email confirmation with an RMS ID. Receiving this email is notification that the applicant is on the waiting list.
If you have difficulties and require additional assistance completing the application process should contact the Housing Assignments Office at 706-542-1421.
Mid-Year Applications
There are some individuals who will begin their academic studies in the spring semester (January) as opposed to the typical fall semester start (August). If an eligible student needs an apartment in the middle of the contract year, he or she should apply per the directions above and make a notation in the “Comments” section of the Primary and Secondary Profile page of RMS. If space is available, once the application has been accepted, notification will be sent to the applicant to complete the online apartment selection and contracting process. If no space is available, the applicant will be placed on the waiting list.
Waiting List
The demand for housing on the Health Sciences Campus sometimes exceeds the number of available apartments. All applicants are initially placed on the waiting list until the assignment and contracting period begins (typically late March/early April for contracts that begin the following August). Applicants participate in the apartment selection and contracting process in the order in which their application was received, the type of apartment requested, and what term (fall or spring) the applicant would like to begin residency.
Housing Assignment and Contracting Process
The assignment and contracting process typically begins in late March/early April for contracts that begin the following August. Once the process begins, applicants will receive assignment notification based on their placement on that waiting list and other assignment preferences (single contract or roommate option). Applicants will then be issued a contract and are given a defined period of time to accept and submit the contract to the Housing Assignments Office.
