Learn all about the first year live-on requirement
Research at the University of Georgia and around the nation consistently indicates that students who live on campus during their first year of college:
- Take heavier course loads
- Achieve higher grades
- Participate more actively within the collegiate community
- Report a higher level of satisfaction with their overall college experience
For these reasons in spring 2003 the University of Georgia adopted a residency requirement for all first year students. Participation is mandatory, and failure to comply with the first year live-on requirement may result in cancellation of enrollment and revocation of student status at the University of Georgia. However this requirement may be waived for students with atypical situations.
